NOVAH in the Netherlands

• Mission: Prevent domestic violence through cost-effective, evidence-based media interventions.

• Vision: Build a scalable, research-driven cost-effective radio edutainment model to prevent domestic violence—combining local partnerships, rigorous evaluation, and open knowledge-sharing—so it can be adopted by others and scaled globally.

• Goal for 2025/26: Successfully complete our pilot project (airing a 12-episode radio drama in Rwanda on national radio) and rigorously assess its impact through a large-scale study involving 500+ couples, using treatment and control groups, in collaboration with academic researchers.

• Long-term plans (beyond 2025): Expand the intervention’s reach with the goal of reaching 1 million listeners per year. We will develop a replicable framework to scale the intervention in other countries and ensure its ongoing effectiveness is supported through research and evaluation.

• Funding: NOVAH receives funding from U.S. foundations via the Players Philanthropy Fund (PPF), along with private foundations, government grants, and individual donors in Europe and beyond.
