Our radio drama Twubakane in Rwanda
We have been active in Rwanda since September 2024, where 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence every year.
We write, produce and broadcast the drama Twubakane (“Let’s build together”) with a focus on domestic violence prevention. Each 20-minute episode is designed to entertain while promoting positive behavior change.

Early 2025, we aired a first season to an estimated 30,000 listeners, finding promising results: most listeners reported improved gender equity and a stronger relationship, and a quantitative study found a 40% relative reduction in violence.

Our incoming second season
We are now producing a second season of 12 episodes, based on additional research and learnings from our first season.
It will be aired on national radio, reaching an estimated 1.1 million listeners—about 15% of the country’s adult population. We expect our cost per listener to be under 0.3$.

We plan to assess the impact through a randomized controlled trial, conducted in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA).
